Install RKCadTools in AutoCAD Plant 3D

Use the AutoCAD application bundle for normal installation. RKCadTools loads into the AutoCAD Plant 3D ribbon and does not require migrating your Plant 3D projects.

Close AutoCAD Plant 3D

Close all AutoCAD Plant 3D windows before copying the plugin files. This prevents AutoCAD from holding old files in memory during the update.

Copy the bundle folder

Copy the complete RKCadTools.bundle folder into one of the AutoCAD application plugin folders:

  • Normal per-user install: %APPDATA%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\
  • Admin machine-wide install: C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\
  • The final folder should be named RKCadTools.bundle, or use the version-specific bundle name supplied with your package.

Start AutoCAD Plant 3D

Open AutoCAD Plant 3D and load a Plant 3D project. RKCadTools should load automatically during startup.

Confirm the ribbon tab

Look for the RKCadTools ribbon tab. If the tab appears, the plugin is installed and ready for activation or testing.

Quick check

After installation, these checks confirm that the package is in the right place and AutoCAD can load it.

Folder existsRKCadTools.bundle is inside the per-user or machine-wide ApplicationPlugins folder.

Ribbon appearsThe RKCadTools tab appears after Plant 3D starts.

Command opensA command opens normally, or shows the license activation window.
