We use essential cookies to keep RKCadTools running. With your permission, we also use analytics and marketing cookies to understand what helps Plant 3D teams and improve the site. Cookie Policy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how RKCadTools processes personal data for the website, customer accounts, licensing, payments, downloads, and support.
Our approach
- We collect data needed to deliver and secure the service.
- Paddle handles checkout and card payments.
- Keygen supports software licensing and activation.
- You can exercise your data-protection rights by email.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
RKCadTools is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, except where another provider acts as an independent controller for its own service.
2. Data we process
- Account and contact data: name, email address, company, account role, password hash, and account activity.
- Trial and licence data: trial dates, licence status, seat quantity, activation codes, device or machine identifier, machine name, supported Plant 3D version, and activation history.
- Purchase data: Paddle customer, transaction, subscription and price references, order status, currency, quantity, and paid-through dates. RKCadTools does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
- Download and support data: details entered when requesting a download or contacting us, correspondence, diagnostics you choose to provide, and the resolution of your request.
- Website and security data: IP address, browser and device information, server logs, consent choices, and optional website-statistics data described in our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use the data
We process data to provide requested trial access, customer accounts, downloads, licensing, subscriptions, updates, and support; to authenticate users and prevent fraud or misuse; to maintain security and service reliability; to administer payments and financial records; to communicate service information; and, with consent where required, to understand website use.
Our legal bases under applicable data-protection law are performance of a contract and steps requested before a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service and supporting customers, and consent for optional processing. When we rely on legitimate interests, we balance them against your rights and expectations.
4. Paddle payments
Paddle.com is our merchant of record and handles checkout, payment, invoicing, tax, returns, and related buyer support. Paddle receives the information needed for the transaction and may share order and customer references with us so we can fulfil and support your subscription. Paddle is responsible for its own processing as described in Paddle’s Privacy Policy.
5. Licensing through Keygen
We use Keygen to issue and validate software licences and machine activations. Licence identifiers and information needed to distinguish an activated computer are transmitted to Keygen. RKCadTools determines the purpose of this processing, and Keygen processes relevant information for us under its data-processing terms. Read Keygen’s Privacy Policy for more information.
6. Other recipients
Personal data may be processed by service providers that host the website and database, deliver email, maintain security, or provide technical support. It may also be disclosed to professional advisers or public authorities where necessary to establish or defend legal claims or comply with law. Providers receive only the data reasonably necessary for their task and are subject to appropriate obligations.
7. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside Denmark, the EU, or the EEA. Where data-protection law requires it, transfers rely on an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
8. How long we keep data
We keep account, licence, and subscription data while the account or entitlement is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for support, security, dispute handling, and legal compliance. Transaction and accounting records are retained for the period required by applicable law. Support and download records are kept only as long as needed for the request and legitimate follow-up. Data is then deleted or anonymised, subject to normal backup expiry and any legal hold.
9. Security
We use organisational and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including access controls, HTTPS, account authentication, restricted administrative access, and service logging. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable conditions, you may request access to and correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Send a request to contact@rkcadtools.com. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency or the competent authority where you live or work.
11. Children
RKCadTools is a professional business product and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly offer accounts or subscriptions to children.
12. Browser extension — RKCadTools ACC Bridge
The extension reads component properties from supported Autodesk Construction Cloud and Autodesk Viewer property panels. RK Properties can open automatically and follows component selection changes while open. The popup and navigation commands also read properties when used.
Component properties are used locally in the browser. When you choose a Plant 3D navigation command, the component tag and class are sent to the RKCadTools plugin running on the same computer through an authenticated local HTTP connection.
Settings, including property names, the local P&ID file address, external-link configuration, reused viewer-tab information and the private pairing key, are stored locally in your browser. The pairing key is used only to authenticate requests to the local plugin and is never sent to Autodesk pages or external websites. You can remove the stored key using Forget pairing and clear the remaining stored extension settings by uninstalling the extension.
If you enable and use an External Link, the selected property value is included in the URL sent to the website you configured. That website processes the request under its own privacy policy.
The extension does not upload component or project data to RKCadTools, use analytics or tracking, or access your Autodesk login credentials, authentication cookies or network traffic. It does not modify Autodesk models or Plant 3D project data. Component data is used only to provide the extension’s displayed properties and navigation features; it is not sold or used for advertising, creditworthiness or lending decisions.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will remain available on this page. Material changes will be highlighted or communicated where appropriate.
