Supported files, privacy, and common questions
What can I open?
A searchable PDF and an XLSX, XLS, CSV or TSV tag table. You can also paste cells from Excel, including the header row. Select the worksheet and header row, then choose the tag column and the columns to include in popup notes.
The tool reads saved, displayed cell values. It does not calculate formulas, run macros or refresh external data. Recalculate and save your workbook first.
What are the limits?
150 MB per PDF; 30 MB per spreadsheet; up to 100,000 data rows and 256 columns per worksheet. Pasted tables are limited to roughly 5 million characters. Available browser memory and drawing complexity also matter; use a smaller file or a table containing only the relevant tags if processing stops.
Why are some tags not found?
Check the worksheet, header row and tag column, then try searching for a missing tag in your PDF reader. Scans, outlined text and some CAD font encodings need OCR or a new searchable PDF export.
Matching ignores letter case and treats hyphens and dots as equivalent. Tags must be whole tokens made of letters, digits, underscores, hyphens or dots. Duplicate equivalent tags use the first spreadsheet row.
Does anything leave my computer?
This tool reads selected files into browser memory. It has no file upload endpoint, external document processing or telemetry. The website still serves the application files normally. Downloaded PDFs and unmatched-tag reports contain your data, so share them intentionally.
Are my files or settings saved?
Files and spreadsheet rows are not saved to WordPress or browser storage. Only Save settings in this browser stores column names, colour rules (including their values) and appearance options on this device for this site.
Clear session clears the loaded files and results from the tool; saved settings remain until you choose Forget saved settings. Downloaded files stay wherever you saved them.
Why is a PDF rejected, or a popup missing?
Password-protected and digitally signed PDFs are not supported. Use an unencrypted, unsigned source copy. The preview shows highlights and visible labels; open the downloaded PDF in a compatible PDF reader to use popup notes. Visible labels do not automatically avoid other drawing content.
Review the annotated drawing before use. Text extraction and highlight placement can vary with PDF fonts and layout; an unmatched tag does not necessarily mean it is missing from the drawing.
